Welcome to Xi'an

Its Monday afternoon in Xi'an, the second city on the tour. We flew here from Beijing yesterday morning.

There are just fourteen in our group and our guide, Li. His English is very good and his tour management skills are excellent. Our bags were picked up from our room and the next we saw them they had been delivered to our room in Xi'an. Our Beijing bus took us to the airport and our Xi'an bus was waiting when we landed. All very easy. Li buys the tickets for a museum and we skip to the front of the line. We walk through a park and the bus is waiting at the other side.

When we arrived in Xi'an we had a welcome ceremony at the city gate. Last night's entertainment might best be described as Tang Dynasty dinner theater.

Today it was the Terracotta Warriors museum. Thirty years ago, a farmer was digging a well and came up with a terracotta head. Its now an incredible archeological site, with the museum buildings built right over the excavation site.

Tonight, a dumpling dinner. We fly to Shanghai early in the morning.

Can you imagine that guy's face when he dug up the head? Really cool that they only discovered it in 1974 too.

I also really thought it said "dumpster" dinner instead of "dumpling" dinner.... I was hoping for some crazy story when they got home.
