Our bags are packed, all but for those last minute things that wind up in the carry on, and we're feeling ready to go. The packing list from Quark (the tour operator) reminds me of sending kids to camp. "Bring an extra pair of gloves" We are expecting temperatures in Antarctica to be warmer than Minnesota in January, but we have clothes and gloves and mittens and socks and head coverings for the harshest of conditions.
I imagine if you lived in the Southern US, the weather on this trip could be challenging. We're expecting merely brisk by Minnesota standards.
We leave in minutes, courtesy of Megan, for our flight to Atlanta. We'll have a few hours in Atlanta before boarding the overnight flight to Buenos Aires. We're looking forward to seeing Ajo and her family Friday night, and Ceci and her family Saturday night.
Check back for further updates, but I wouldn't recommend too often. The first part of John and Mary's Big Adventure is just a lot of air travel. Another caution: If you don't see anything new for the first few days we're on the boat, it will be because the boat is rocking and rolling too much to make typing a possibility. We'll check in when the seas are calm and the satellite connection on the boat is working.
